Memories of SuHo Essay - 521 Words
That simple name replayed in KyungSoos head like a favorite song. Something about it was just, naturally appealing. After the unusual encounter with the boy, he was incapable of focusing. All he could think of was the melody he played. So familiar, he heard it many times; everyday and yet, the sound was new. More purposeful, more perfect, more like SuHo. That was it, he played that song, the same way SuHo did. KyungSoo evoked the image of the time when the two fo them would sit and SuHo would start playing, asking him to accompany and they performed together, in a unbroken conformity. KyungSoo ever halted in the midst, just to observe SuHo and comprehend the way his fingers directly indentified where to move next. The food arrived a few minutes later, right after Lay eventually got KyungSoo to smile, having himself to go through a series of hilarious face expressions and humiliation. All due to the weakness for his boyfriend. ââ¬Å"I will eat well.â⬠Lay announced and KyungSoo repeated after him. They took their time eating, taking modest bites in-between the ongoing conversation about KyungSoo and his desire to became a chef someday. Lay was really keen on that idea. Considering his best dish was plain rice, having a personal chef would be advantageous, particulary when the chef is exceptionaly handsome and skilled. ââ¬Å"Can I be the first ever customer to taste you food?â⬠Lays face couldve been compared to a puppy at that second and KyungSoo was more than amused to say yes. Lay caught the corner of his watch and rushed KyungSoo out of the resturant, explaining they have ten minutes until opening. Dispirited, KyungSoo draggled after the boy. They reached the shop two minutes before one oclock and KyungSoo relucantly switched the sign to read Open. When both settled in the first customer turned up, asking for the newest album of Girls Generation. A high school girl, with her raven hair tied up in a bun with a apricot-coloured bow on top. Supply and Demand Essay Example For Students
Supply and Demand Essay Supply 1 The rubber supply in Japan is at an all time low. The article chosen discusses how the low supplies of rubber are not typical for the time of year. Tokyo rubber or TOCOM is the Tokyo Commodity Exchange which regulates the rubber market in Japan. A rally was held recently which was the largest in years because of the concerns about low supplies and historically low rubber stocks. The benchmark December rubber contract on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange rose as high as 169. 2 yen per kg, the priciest for TOCOMs key contract since March 11, 1996, when prices hit 174.6. At the close it was up 3.4 yen at 168.7 (TOCOM.). The contracts that are already signed between different companies for delivery from August to November of 2005 are not looking too good. The price for rubber is expected to rise five yen on the stock exchange. Julys contracts, which have no price limit, finished up seven at 189.8 yen per kg of rubber. This meant that the rubber contracts hit their life-time high. The expectations of investors in Tokyo are that the price of rubber will peak in August and begin to decrease when rubber supplies increase. The price gap of rubber between the December and July widened to 21.1 yen. Rubber supplies have been low due to a delay in shipments from Thailand. Thailand is the worlds largest manufacturer and exporter of natural rubber. The shipments of rubber have fallen due to bad weather conditions. Rubber supplies normally drop from the beginning of February which is winter and the dry season in southern Thailand. During Supply 2 this season, latex output declines because the rubber trees shed their leaves. Production in general, returns to normal by beginning of May, but the buyers are still not getting enough shipments. Japan purchases over 60 percent of its rubber imports from Thailand. Because the signs of short production, rubber stocks in Japan have decreased to the lowest level in forty years. According to the he Rubber Trade Association of Japan, Prior to June of 2005, the lowest the stock had been was back in 1962. Because of the high costs of rubber and the decrease in supply, manufacturers are considering shifting to natural rubber from expensive synthetic rubber. High oil costs have also driven up rubber costs. Because of the low supplies of rubber, companies are forced to increase the price. The demand has not risen because the need for rubber has not. By increasing the price of rubber, companies can try to make up for lost revenues. The rubber companies are also considering switching from highly priced synthetic rubber to natural rubber because of the cost difference. Natural rubber is much cheaper than synthetic rubber. Companies, who choose to make the switch, may want to consider the cost/benefit approach. For example, natural rubber is cheaper to produce but may not be as good as synthetic. The natural rubber make not be as high of quality as the synthetic rubber and therefore isnt as durable. Natural rubber may be easier to sell to the consumer because the price will be cheaper and the product will be easier to mass-produce. Considering the cost/benefit of switching rubber could be explained discussing a Supply 3 tire company. For example, suppose Goodyear had an extremely good and reliable tire made from synthetic rubber. Because costs are high, Goodyear decides to save money by switching to using natural rubber. The new tire may not hold up as well as the old and consumers begin to get into accidents. Now somebody may choose to sue Goodyear because of poor quality and because of an accident he or she may have gotten into. It may have been more cost effective to continue with the synthetic rubber and waited out the slow production period. The company may face larger expenses with a lawsuit than those of continuing with synthetic rubber. .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95 , .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95 .postImageUrl , .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95 , .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95:hover , .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95:visited , .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95:active { border:0!important; } .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95:active , .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95 .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u85ea12a2c1beabd11c0bd9e18df8ff95:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Tragedy of Oedipus Rex EssayReference Supply, Price and Demand, (Milligan, S. , Coulton, C., York, P., Register, R., 1996); New York. My Lesson of Forgiveness free essay sample
My Lesson of Forgiveness ââ¬Å"Forgiveness is the healing of wounds caused by another. You choose to let go of a past wrong and no longer be hurt by it. Forgiveness is a strong move to make like turning your shoulders sideways to walk quickly on a crowded sidewalk. Itââ¬â¢s your move.â⬠(Anonymous 7/7/03). As a child, I wouldnââ¬â¢t have exactly called myself normal. Iââ¬â¢ve always had many obstacles going on in my life that Iââ¬â¢ve had to deal with. My mother never treated me like a child and never let me do things children were supposed to be doing. She made me feel like I was never supposed to be brought into this world. All I ever heard was ââ¬Å"youââ¬â¢re never going to amount to anything, Haileyâ⬠. All I wanted was attention from her, and for her to be proud of me. She caught me off guard the day she told me that she never cared! There were many lessons that needed to be learned; and I was forced to grow up entirely too fast and never enjoy my childhood. We will write a custom essay sample on My Lesson of Forgiveness or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I felt like I was the only person on earth going through the things I was going through. I was holding a grudge and full of emotions that were tearing me apart. I was encompassed by feelings of mistrust, hurt, and anger. One of the most important lessons that Iââ¬â¢ve had to learn was forgiveness. It was very difficult for me to forgive my mother when I had negative influences and distractions surrounding me everywhere I went. I never could get away from it. There have been many instances in which I have had to forgive, but not forget. I truly believe that God wants us to learn from our hurts and in turn grow in wisdom. I have come to realize that if we take our life experiences and remember them instead of forgetting them, they can be used as the basis for the decisions we make in our future. When I base my decisions on my past experiences, I make sure that I look at the bad and good consequences that could come from the decision I make. Everyone has to learn the hard way, but Iââ¬â¢m a strong believer of ââ¬Å"what doesnââ¬â¢t kill you will only make you strongerâ⬠. Is forgiveness a selfish act, a way to make ourselves feel better? When you forgive, youââ¬â¢re setting yourself free and acknowledging that it is not beneficial to hate. Hate destroys the other person and inevitably yourself. Forgiveness is an important aspect of our humanity. It is a gift that only we have been bestowed, an ability that enables us to fully heal emotionally. My personal reflection of forgiveness is when you forget about the past, you no longer want to hurt those who hurt you, and you are capable of moving on. Everyone at some point in their life will understand how to forgive and the importance of it. I would have to say that I am very pleased and fortunate to have learned how to forgive earlier than others. The thing thatââ¬â¢s awkward to me is that my mother was the one who used to always preach to me about forgiveness, and she hasnââ¬â¢t even learned to forgive herself. If my mother cared, I know she would be proud that I have learned to forgive. If she cared, I would tell her that I forgive her.

Looking around at daily life, the pattern of computer oriented devices make life easier. All of the computerized facets in our society help to increase our daily productivity and help us to do whatever it is we need to accomplish in the day. The computer age is upon the people and it will continue to grow in influence until society revolves around it daily. In personal computers, the industry has begun to create faster machines that can store much more information. A computer is a device that computes, especially a programmable electronic machine that performs high-speed mathematical or logical operations or that assembles, stores, correlates, or otherwise processes information. The particular sequence of operations can be change readily, allowing the computer to solve more than one kind of problem. The interface between the computer and human operator is known as the user interface. [MIFF2009] The internet in simple terms is a network of the interlinked computer networking worldwide, which is accessible to the general public. We will write a custom essay sample on Sample Thesis or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page These interconnected computers work by transmitting data through a special type of packet switching which is known as the IP or the internet protocol. [YOUR2013] Internet is such a huge network of several different interlinked networks relating to the business, government, academic, and even smaller domestic networks, therefore internet is known as the network of all the other networks. These networks enable the internet to be used for various important functions which include the several means of communications like the file transfer, the online chat and even the sharing of the documents and web sites on the WWW, or the World Wide Web. Website is a set of interconnected web pages, usually including a homepage, generally located on the same server, and prepared and maintained as a collection of information by a person, group, or organization. [MIFF2009] Information systems are implemented within an organization for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of that organization. Capabilities of the information system and characteristics of the organizations, its work systems, people development and implementation methodologies determine the extent to which that purpose is achieved. With the use of Online Information System for Sta. Maria Fire Station, people will be able to understand the importance of knowing what the possibilities are might happen due to their carelessness when it comes to their safety. Also, the website will view the offered services so that the people donââ¬â¢t need to visit the main station to inquire but simply use the internet to see all the information about the fire incidents, preventive tips and safety measures of the fire station. 1. 1 Statement of the Problem General Problem: How will the proponents develop an Online Information System for Sta. Maria Fire Station that will motivate people more on efficient information about fire prevention and safety animation tips and tutorials Specific Problems: How will the proponents create a user- friendly interface which the user can easily understand. This becomes a problem if the person who is not computer literate, they have a hard time to understand and navigate the system. Unpleasant web design may cause unintentional mistakes and miss out the interests of the user. How will the proponents create a page that will secure unauthorized person to access important information. Due to manual process of the Sta. Maria Fire Station, important documents were not organized and only stored in computerà ,à à à à à à à filling cabinet, and even in wall shelves without any security causing the data to be access by unauthorized persons that can alter and easily destroy files. How will the proponents create appropriate animations, tutorials, and other multimedia elements for the proposed system. The fire station is conducting few events including seminars and still using the traditional ways of giving instructions that eventually may cause the people to get bored and at the same time, that the topics discussed on these events may be easily slip oneââ¬â¢s mind. How will the proponents create a page that will post and update all activities of the Fire Station. Posting and updating the schedule of activities in a bulletin board is very risky due to its tendency to be destroyed unintentionally. Because of lacking of more space, previous announcements are being removed to create new one. And using materials and creating posters are time consuming and money wasting. How will the proponents create a page that will enable the user to send their comments and suggestions to the fire station Due to tradition process, the residents of Sta. Maria are having a hard time in getting information of the fire station. The residents also not informed if there is an announcement, activities or even seminars. 1. 2 Current State of the Technology Computers nowadays are widely spread to industries and businesses. People use it to make their work easier, faster and more accurate that reduces problems and errors. Many companies have already using the computerized and online system that is now making big roles in socializing people and distributing information. Creating websites or online systems expands the process of sharing, receiving and publishing information in a very quick and real ââ¬â time manner. Information system is also an integrated set of components for collecting, storing, and processing data and for delivering information, knowledge, and digital products. Sta. Maria Fire Station is located at Poblacion, Sta. Maria, Bulacan. Before, both the police and fire station belongs in the same department. But since 1991, the fire station became separated and established causes to lose some important files. In the current system, the fire station is still using the manual process and accumulates several difficulties. SMFS announcements are posted only in bulletin board where pares and push pins are the tolls in posting updates and activities. Posting of events are made after the activity. Log books and other important documents are stored in filling cabinets and bookshelves indie and outside of the fire stationââ¬â¢s office. Therefore, the materials have the tendency to be easily destroyed and fade as time passes by. The commonly problem of the establishment other than the lack of equipment is communicating and sharing information to people. SMFS owned 2 functional computers with internet connection and are used for making monthly reports and seminarââ¬â¢s presentation. The BFP requires different structures such as barangays, schools, hospitals and buildings to conduct seminars and inspections that are made through request. They also make inspection on submitted business permits. BFP requires conducting seminars so that the residents of Sta. Maria know how simple preventions will help and what they are going to do during incidents. They are only using projectors, LCD, Power Point Presentation, white board and marker. Presently, instead of 21, the fire station only have 18 firemen , composed of 10 Uniformed Personnel and 8 Non Uniformed Personnel (5Nurses assigned in fire aid and 3 volunteers). Uniformed Personnel are trained by the BFP (Bureau of Fire Protection). Sta. Maria Fire Station Vision A modern, efficient and responsive national fire protection agency working towards a public safety conscious society. Maria Fire Station Mission To protect lives and properties through the prevention and suppression of destructive fires; investigation of their causes and the provision of emergency medical and rescue services with the active support of the public. General Objectives To be able to create an Online Information System for Sta. Maria Fire Station that will give efficient information and safety animation tips and tutorials on fire preventing 1. 3. 2 Specific Objectives To be able to create a user friendly interface which the user can easily understand. The proponents will create a user friendly interface that can be used by anyone even if the users have no deep knowledge on it. This kind of interface can be immediately understood especially for the SMFS user/s and the usage of the system can be learned quickly. Simultaneously, it guides the user through the critical path. To be able to create a page that will secure unauthorized persons to access the proposed system. The proposed system will be having a tight security in keeping the files by creating a log-in page both for the page visitors and admin that contains username and password so that only the authorized person can access the system. Where, only the admin of the website can see all the fire stationââ¬â¢s important information while page visitors have limited access on the SMFSââ¬â¢s web page. To be able to create the appropriate animations, tutorials, and other multimedia elements for the proposed system. Incorporating animations in fire safety and prevention tips, fire mitigation and some multimedia elements to the proposed system that the SMFS can use to different events, especially in conducting seminars, will encourage the user/s to easily understand and remember the instruction and information regarding fire preventing. To be able to create a page that will post and update all activities of the Fire Station. The proponents will create a page that can update and post information regarding the events and activities of SMFS so that the people of Sta. Maria will be updated. And also will take less effort, time, and money in creating and posting announcements on the bulletin board. To be able to create a page that will enable the user to send their comments and suggestions to the fire station This will help the fire station in communicating with the residents of Sta. Maria. And also this will help the residents of Sta. Maria to deliver their personal concerns and in getting reliable information when they needed. Maria Fire Station. The proposed system aims to help the SMFS in sharing, communicating, spreading information that will attract the interest of all the possible users. It helps to view important information and awareness about fire incidents from the fire station. PhpMyAdmin or SQL Server The proponent will use PhpMyAdmin or SQL Server as database that will hold and store all information needed in the system. The proponents will store different incidents of Sta. Maria. They will also store all opinions and suggestions that the user post and other information to maintain the content of the server (Back-End) of the system. Adobe Dreamweaver The system will use Adobe Dreamweaver which is the industry-leading web authoring and editing software that provides both visual and code-level capabilities for creating standard-based websites. In graphics editing and designing the proponents will use Adobe Photoshop. PHP scripting language The proponents will use PHP scripting language. It is a general-purpose server-side scripting language originally designed for web development to produce dynamic web pages. It is among one of the most developed server-side scripting languages that is embedded into HTML source document, rather than calling an external file to process data. Ultimately, the code is interpreted by a web server with a PHP server module which generates the resulting web page. It evolved to include a command-line interface capability and can be used in standalone graphical application. Adobe Photoshop The developers also decided to use Adobe Photoshop to design the interface of the front end and back end, including the background and buttons. Front End ââ¬âthe online part of the system that the visitors can see. This is also the user interface and contains all the information needed. The proponents used Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dream Weaver, and PHP to enhance the front end of the system containing the Log-in, Home, Media, News and Events, Community, Contact Us, and About Us. Log-in (officers and administrator) ââ¬âthe part of the system that handles the authentication of the officers and administrator. The officers and administrator should enter the username and password to access the Back End of the website. It is composed of discussion and facts and principle to which the present study is related. 2. 4. 1 Local Studies and Literature Base on the blog www. gdap. org. ph, Game development outsourcing has grown abin leaps and bounds over the years, fueled by the acceleration in global game production as well as by an ever-increasing need for companies to scale and stay competitive. Eastern Europe, India, Korea, and China are leading the way; however, countries like the Philippines seem to be slowly catching up. Entire game development processes, including art production, programming, and testing, are now being outsourced to local game studios by top publishers such as EA, Activision, Sony, THQ, and many more. In addition, more and more IPs (intellectual properties) are now being deployed by local studios and indie developers. According in the above statement, the Philippines has slow catch ups in global game production in a several years. And because of that Philippines are now being outsourced to local game studios by top publishers in the world. As stated in www. investphilippines. gov. ph/downloads/sector/Game Development, Game Development is alternately called Interactive Entertainment or Digital Entertainment in other countries. It is basically ââ¬Å"Software Development for Entertainmentâ⬠. The industry involves the production of original computer games for entertainment purposes, or services such as software programming, 2D and 3D artwork, creation of interactive simulations of real-life situations, and interactive learning materials. Game development also includes the rapidly growing and hugely popular online gaming or massively multiplayer online games(MMOG). The proponents proposed system entitled School Rush, is a 3D game, that not just like an ordinary game for entertainment but also have a educational purpose. School Rush came from the ideas combined by the brainstorming of the proponents, and by the use of Multimedia, game interfaces can be more so exciting while developing it. 2. 4. 2 Foreign Literature According to Zechner Green. (2011). ââ¬Å"Beginning Android 4 Game Developmentâ⬠. page1. State that: This game development renewed our interest, and we started investigating which mobile platforms would be suitable for our development needs. Apples iOS seemed like a good candidate for our game coding skills. However, we quickly realized that the system was not open, that weââ¬â¢d be able to share our work with others only if Apple allowed it, and weââ¬â¢d need a Mac in order to develop for the iOS. And then we found Android. In relation to the study, games is implemented because of the development needs, so in this generation Android and iOS have been more interesting for game development. Creating an Android Game is not easy to do, but because of the use of Modern Technologies and softwares, proponents decided to come up with this kind of system to enhance their skills in programming and to adapt new things like this game development. As stated in a book of Zechner Green(2011). ââ¬Å"Beginning Android 4 Games Developmentâ⬠. Android features have: An application framework that provides a rich set of APIs for creating various types of applications. It also allows the reuse and replacement of components provided by the platform and third-party applications. The Dalvik virtual machine, which is responsible for running applications on Android. A set of graphics libraries for 2D and 3D programming Media support for common audio, video, and image formats, such as Ogg Vorbis, MP3, MPEG-4, and PNG. Thereââ¬â¢s even a specialized API for playing back sound effects, which will come in handy in your game development adventures. APIs for accessing peripherals such as the camera, Global Positioning System (GPS), compass, accelerometer, touchscreen, trackball, keyboard, controller, and joystick. Note that not all Android devices have all these peripheralsââ¬âhardware fragmentation in action. According in the statement above, Android possesses features with a high-level view. These are the features that game should have. Chapter 3. 0 Methodology Methodology is the systematic, theoretical analysis of the methods applied to a field of study, or the theoretical analysis of the body of methods and principles associated with a branch of knowledge. It, typically, encompasses concepts such as paradigm, theoretical model, phases and quantitive or qualitive techniques. 3. 1 Project Design 3. 1. 1The Game 3. 1. 1. 1Game Menu Chart Figure 8: Game HIPO This figure shows the Game HIPO. 3. 1. 1. 2 Game Architecture Figure 9: Game Architecture This figure shows the Game Architecture. Problems adapting with the rest essays
Problems adapting with the rest essays Canada is reputed as being a mosaic, a nation where multitudes of people of different races, ethnicities, religion and ure live at mutual peace, tolerance, and equality under the law. However, the mistreatment and neglect shown towards Canadas aboriginal peoples has dismissed this reputation as simply being a myth used to euphemize or essentially sugar-coat a growing internal problem. Can the problem ever truly be solved? Despite sincere efforts in 1969 by Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau to reintegrate Native people to Canadian society , ignorance has led the general population and even the government to forget the interests and concerns of the original people of Canada. There are many reasons why Natives cannot adapt to normal society. At the same time, there are countless amounts of evidence to confirm that the problems Native people face today can be associated with events that happened almost 300 years ago. Great injustices have been done to the Aboriginal people long before Canada became a nation. The Native peoples were victims of European imperialism. The Europeans introduced incurable diseases, modern warfare, and dangerous substances to the indigenous peoples of the New World, which led to the breakdown of the Native population and their ural values. Traders often justified their claims to Native land on the basis of their religious right to do so. In taking over Native land, the English and French disrupted ancient trade patterns, threatening the Aboriginals way of life. Although the Native people were decimated as the result of the European introduction of modern warfare, it was disease itself that took the most destructive toll on the populace. Incurable epidemics such as smallpox, measles, influenza, and the bubonic plague were the greatest killers at the time, reducing entire villages to a small fraction of their original population. Illegal trading would ...

Evaluating the Hero's Journey of Harry Potter Essay
Evaluating the Hero's Journey of Harry Potter - Essay Example We instantly feel connected to the ordinary man, who is destined to turn into an epitome of gallantry, because ââ¬Å"what weââ¬â¢re seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances within our own innermost being and realityâ⬠(Campbell and Moyers 4). This is why the pattern of a heroââ¬â¢s journey has always been the same in every period. Christopher Vogler and Stuart Voytilla categorized Campbellââ¬â¢s theory into twelve stages. Amazingly, most of the present age literature and cinematic masterpieces fit perfectly on these stages. To prove this theory, we need to compare a modern example of heroic endeavor with these stages. This paper is an attempt to evaluate the journey of Harry Potter, the ultimate icon of a mythic hero for todayââ¬â¢s generation, in the movie ââ¬Å"Harry Potter and the Philosopherââ¬â¢s Stone. ââ¬Å" The first stage introduces us to the hero's ordinary world. Voytilla describes it as ââ¬Å"the Heroââ¬â¢s home, the safe haven upon which the Special World and the Journeyââ¬â¢s outcome must be comparedâ⬠(Voytilla 8). In this stage, a deliberative effort is made by every storyteller to express the heroââ¬â¢s dissatisfaction with his life. In the movie, Harry is an orphan leading a miserable life under the guardianship of his uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and cousin Dudley. Their attitude is hostile and harry live inside a cupboard. Rowling describes his life in the book as ââ¬Å"the Dursleys often spoke about Harry, as though he was something very nasty that couldnââ¬â¢t understand them, like a slugâ⬠(Mulholland 108). This aspect of a heroââ¬â¢s life is indispensable because troubled life makes the hero stronger, able to rely on himself, and enhances his decision-making power (Vogler 84). According to Neil Mulholland ââ¬Å"Harry is a great wizard. However, often, greatness is bred from childhood strifeâ⬠(Mulholland 8 9). The second stage initiates the call to adventure which Campbell believed ââ¬Å"signifies that destiny has summoned the heroâ⬠(Campbell 48). It could be a call in its literal meaning, or just anything that could compel the hero to leave the ordinary world (Vogler 100). In Harryââ¬â¢s journey, a call comes on his 11th birthday when he receives a ââ¬Å"letter from No Oneâ⬠about being accepted in Hogwarts. Later, Rubeus Hagrid appears at the door and informs Harry that he is a wizard and the time has come to join Hogwarts, the school of witchcraft. Third stage implies the heroââ¬â¢s refusal to the call. It happens because of ââ¬Å"the fears and insecurities that have surfaced from the Call to Adventureâ⬠(Voytilla 8). Harryââ¬â¢s initial response to Hagridââ¬â¢s proposal is ââ¬Å"I think you must have made a mistake. I don't think I can be a wizard." Heroââ¬â¢s reluctance is natural because fear of the unknown is human nature. The uncertainty surr ounding the task, and the mysterious special world offered is what entices the hero, and restrain him from taking the step as well (Vogler 107). Fourth stage involves meeting the mentor. Voytilla explains that ââ¬Å"the Hero meets a Mentor to gain confidence, insight, advice, training, or magical gifts to overcome the initial fearsâ⬠(Voytilla 9). In every tale, there is some guiding factor, most likely a man or woman, who compels, explains, and trains the hero (Vogler 39). Harry is mentored initially by Hagrid and later Albus Dumbledore, the principal of Hogwarts. They not only enlighten him
